Website, Branding & Local SEO | Jennifer Massey Counseling

Transforming an established counseling practice into a stronger, more strategic digital brand.

SEO | Branding | Content

Overview:

Jennifer Massey Counseling began as a local SEO project with a clear goal: help an established therapist become more visible to the right people searching for specialized care in Greenville and Upstate South Carolina.

As the work progressed, so did Jennifer's business.

What started with search optimization evolved into a much larger digital transformation, including a refreshed brand identity, complete website redesign, new site architecture, optimized content across the entire site, Google Business Profile strategy, and an expanding digital ecosystem designed to support new services, audiences, and opportunities.

The result is not simply a website that performs better in search. It is a brand and digital platform built to grow alongside the business.

The Challenge

Jennifer had more than two decades of professional experience and deep specialization in Internal Family Systems (IFS), but her digital presence did not fully communicate the level of expertise, breadth of services, or direction of the practice.

Her existing website was live, but several challenges were limiting its potential:

  • Low visibility for important local searches
  • Content that lacked a consistent SEO structure
  • A website experience that did not fully reflect the quality of the practice
  • An outdated visual identity
  • Limited differentiation around Jennifer's IFS expertise
  • Service offerings that were becoming increasingly difficult to organize
  • New groups, retreats, training, and educational services that needed room to grow

The challenge was no longer simply getting more people to the website.

It was creating a digital experience that helped the right people find Jennifer, understand her expertise, explore increasingly diverse offerings, and confidently choose their next step.

The Strategy

Rather than treating branding, web design, UX, content, and SEO as isolated services, we approached the project as an interconnected digital system.

Every decision needed to support both sides of the experience:

Search engines needed to clearly understand what Jennifer offered and where she offered it.

People needed to quickly understand who Jennifer was, what made her approach different, and which service was right for them.

That led to a strategy centered around five priorities:

  • Refresh and elevate the Jennifer Massey Counseling brand
  • Completely rethink the website experience and content structure
  • Establish Jennifer as a local authority around Internal Family Systems
  • Improve visibility across Google Search and local results
  • Create a scalable foundation for future services and business growth

A New Brand Identity

As Jennifer's practice evolved, her visual identity needed to evolve with it.

We developed a refreshed logo and supporting brand direction that better reflected the intersection of professional expertise, human connection, nature, healing, and personal growth found throughout Jennifer's work.

The new identity helped create greater consistency across the website, digital marketing, educational resources, event materials, group promotions, and other brand touchpoints.

More importantly, it gave Jennifer a visual system flexible enough to support a practice that was becoming much more than traditional one-on-one counseling.

Reimagining the Website Experience

The website was completely revamped with a focus on clarity, usability, and long-term scalability.

Rather than simply reskinning the existing site, we reconsidered how visitors moved through the experience and how Jennifer's increasingly complex mix of services could be organized in a way that felt intuitive.

The website redesign included:

  • New visual design and brand implementation
  • Revised information architecture
  • Simplified and reorganized navigation
  • Improved page hierarchy and readability
  • More intentional calls to action
  • Stronger pathways between related services
  • New landing pages for specialized offerings
  • Mobile-responsive UX improvements
  • Improved internal linking and content discovery
  • A flexible structure capable of supporting future growth

The goal was to reduce the work visitors had to do to understand the practice.

Instead of presenting a collection of disconnected services, the site began to communicate a broader philosophy around mental health, healing, flourishing, and lifelong growth.

Rewriting + Optimizing the Entire Website

A major part of the transformation involved developing new, strategically optimized content across the website.

Jennifer brought deep knowledge and a distinct point of view to her work. The challenge was preserving that expertise and voice while making the content easier to understand, scan, navigate, and discover through search.

We developed and optimized content supporting areas such as:

  • Internal Family Systems therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • Couples therapy and IFIO
  • Trauma and relational healing
  • Therapy intensives
  • Wellness and nature-based retreats
  • Faith and spiritual integration
  • IFS groups and workshops
  • Professional training and consultation
  • Clinical supervision
  • Speaking and educational services
  • Mental wellness and experiential learning

Each page was considered through both a UX lens and an SEO lens.

Search intent influenced page topics, headings, metadata, internal links, and content architecture, while UX strategy ensured that optimization never came at the expense of clarity or Jennifer's authentic voice.

Building Local Search Visibility

With a stronger website foundation in place, we developed a comprehensive local SEO strategy focused on Jennifer's priority services and the Greenville and Upstate South Carolina market.

The work included:

  • Local keyword and competitor research
  • Service-specific keyword strategy
  • Title tag and meta description optimization
  • Search-focused heading structures
  • URL optimization
  • Localized page content
  • Internal linking strategy
  • Image alt text
  • Technical and on-page SEO auditing
  • New service and landing page recommendations
  • Strategic blog topics based on search behavior
  • Content outlines for ongoing organic growth
  • Continued optimization as new services were introduced

Internal Family Systems became an important cornerstone of the strategy, helping differentiate Jennifer from more generalized counseling practices while supporting the areas where she had the greatest expertise and opportunity for growth.

Strengthening Google Business & Local Discovery

The website was only one part of Jennifer's local search presence.

Her Google Business Profile was also reviewed and optimized to better align with the services, terminology, geographic targets, and positioning being established across the website.

The goal was consistency.

What prospective clients encountered in Google Search, local results, and Jennifer's website needed to reinforce the same story.

This created a stronger foundation for local discovery and ensured that off-site search visibility supported the broader SEO strategy rather than operating separately from it.

From Counseling Services to a Broader Digital Ecosystem

One of the most important outcomes of the project has been the ability of the digital strategy to evolve as Jennifer's business has evolved.

As her work expanded beyond traditional counseling, the website needed to accommodate entirely new service categories without losing clarity.

This included developing strategy and content for wellness retreats, therapy intensives, professional education, speaking, training, workshops, experiential learning, and Jennifer's growing Flourish Groups ecosystem.

Instead of repeatedly adding disconnected pages, we worked to determine:

  • Who each offering was for
  • How it differed from Jennifer's other services
  • Where it belonged within the website
  • How people would discover it
  • How it connected to the larger customer journey
  • What action a visitor should take next

This transformed the website from a static brochure into an evolving business platform.

Creating the Flourish Groups Experience

Jennifer's Flourish Groups presented a unique UX and messaging challenge.

The concept included several different experiences with varying levels of commitment, learning, and therapeutic depth. Visitors needed an easy way to understand those differences and determine where they belonged.

We helped develop and differentiate four core offerings:

RESET

Accessible sessions focused on practical mental wellness habits, Self-leadership, and skills that can be incorporated into everyday life.

Intro to IFS

An experiential entry point for people who want to better understand Internal Family Systems and experience Jennifer's approach firsthand.

Focus

Topic-driven learning communities designed to help participants deepen and apply skills related to IFS, Nonviolent Communication, leadership, relationships, spirituality, and personal development.

Healing

Small, therapist-guided experiences designed for participants ready to engage more deeply with the IFS healing process.

The work extended beyond webpage copy.

Supporting strategy included information architecture, audience positioning, registration pathways, calls to action, promotional messaging, infographics, individual group graphics, and a visual system that helps visitors quickly understand how each experience fits within the larger Flourish concept.

Extending the Brand Through the Flourishing Lab

The growing ecosystem also led to development of the Flourishing Lab, designed to extend learning and engagement beyond individual Flourish Group sessions.

Patreon serves as a space for capturing quick lessons, inspiration, and practical takeaways from the groups, while Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and Facebook provide additional opportunities to connect Jennifer's ideas with her broader audience.

Together, these platforms support a more complete digital journey:

Discover → Learn → Participate → Practice → Continue Growing

Rather than asking a single website or social channel to do everything, each platform has a role within the larger experience.

The Results

The original SEO objective produced an early and meaningful result.

Within two months of implementing the initial strategy, Jennifer Massey Counseling began appearing on the first page of Google for targeted local keywords in the Greenville area.

But search rankings tell only part of the story.

The larger result has been the transformation of Jennifer's digital presence into a cohesive brand and marketing ecosystem capable of supporting the continued evolution of her practice.

Today, that foundation supports:

  • Stronger local organic visibility
  • A more elevated and recognizable visual identity
  • A completely redesigned website experience
  • Clearer service navigation and customer journeys
  • Optimized content across the website
  • Greater authority around Internal Family Systems
  • Google Business and local search visibility
  • Individual and couples therapy
  • Therapy intensives and retreats
  • Flourish Groups and experiential wellness
  • Professional education and consultation
  • Speaking and training
  • The Flourishing Lab and ongoing digital content
  • Future services and revenue opportunities

More Than a Website Redesign

This project demonstrates what can happen when branding, UX, content, SEO, and digital strategy are treated as parts of the same system.

Jennifer did not simply need a better-looking website or higher Google rankings.

She needed a digital presence capable of communicating a complex and evolving business in a way that still felt simple to the people using it.

The work continues to adapt as Jennifer's practice grows, but the foundation remains the same:

Create a brand people remember. Build an experience people understand. Develop a strategy that helps the right people find it.

That is the difference between building a website and building a digital platform for growth.
